Client profile:
A full-time team lead in the tech sector, managing projects, mentoring junior staff, and coordinating workloads across a small, fast-moving team. Works 36 hours per week in a hybrid setup, balancing technical delivery with people management responsibilities.
The Context
When this client began coaching, they were thriving professionally — passionate about helping their team grow, delivering results, and driving innovation.
However, the transition into leadership brought new challenges. Alongside their technical work, they were now leading meetings, planning project timelines, and supporting new colleagues. Juggling multiple responsibilities left little room to pause or recover.
Their typical day started early, often with back-to-back meetings and quick context switches. Despite finishing around 5 p.m., their mind rarely did. They described being “always on” — thinking through code fixes, strategy, or team issues long after work ended.
The Coaching Goals
Our coaching sessions focused on three interconnected goals:
- Leadership Style – Developing a calm, empowering management approach that supports others without taking on all the pressure.
- Time and Energy Management – Reducing perfectionism, building realistic plans, and managing attention more effectively.
- Work–Life Boundaries – Learning to truly switch off after work and protect mental energy.
- We worked through how neurodivergence intersects with leadership, helping the client see their strengths — such as analytical thinking, empathy, and attention to detail — as assets rather than obstacles.
The Transformation
Over time, the client learned to:
Recognise signs of overthinking early and use grounding techniques to reset focus.
Simplify task tracking through visual tools and clearly defined daily goals.
Delegate with confidence, creating trust and clarity within the team.
End the day with a “shutdown ritual” — logging progress, noting tomorrow’s priorities, and stepping away from screens.
The result? Improved confidence, calmer focus, and better team communication. The client now feels more in control — not just of their work, but of their mindset.
“I used to equate good leadership with constant thinking and doing. Now I see it’s also about pacing, presence, and boundaries.”
Key Takeaways
This case study shows how neuroinclusive coaching can empower professionals in fast-paced industries like tech to manage pressure, lead effectively, and maintain wellbeing.
With the right tools and self-awareness, high-performing neurodivergent leaders can thrive — not just survive — in demanding environments.
